FAQ

  • Why should I hire you to write my personal history?

It is often easier to tell a story to a live person who can ask leading questions than set pen to paper or tap a keyboard. It can be cathartic and fun!

I will listen to you. I cannot count the number of times an acquaintance has told me, “I’ve never told that to anyone before.”

I am naturally curious and a skilled storyteller that knows the questions to ask to elaborate and interface your memories into a personal memoir.

    I can help you:

    Organize your thoughts

    Set the stage

    Celebrate yourself

    Capture your history

    Leave a legacy.

  • Professional experience?

I have written or assisted in more than three dozen memoirs. I am an award-winning author with publication credits in Mingle, Somerset Studio, and North Valley magazines, The Rim Review, Payson Roundup Newspaper, and the Rim Country Gazette.

Do I need to credit you as the author?

No. You are the author. Your memoir. Your words. My pen. You may credit me or I will happily remain a ghost.

    Who owns my book?

    You own the sole copyright.

    Testimonials

  • Once we decide to proceed, what happens?

    We make a contract.

We schedule interview times and dates.

You begin gathering the photographs, family trees, memorabilia, etc. that you want to be included.

  • How much will it cost to have my memoir professionally written, researched, and edited?

The book you want to be created is unique. I can give you a better idea of costs during our initial consultation. Here are the basics.

You may have paid fees to have a will or trust drawn up that benefits your family, but it may have been a stressful process for a document you will not look at again.

When your family reads your memoir, they’ll feel the joy of an emotional connection.

  • How long will it take to have my story successfully brought to the page?

The answer depends on the scope of your project, the estimated number of interviews, writing, editing, and printing turn-around times. Typically, four months to one year.

Interviews usually last between 45 and 60 minutes each.

  • Do you share details about my story with anyone?

Confidentiality is as important to me as it is to you. The only other person I give your story to is a professional editor.

I am excited! Let’s begin!
